Hill Court |
|
 |
 |
 |
Hill Court was originally built in the late 17th
Century, then added to, and is reputed to have been
remodelled in the 18th Century by the Shrewsbury
architect Thomas Farnolls Pritchard. |

Two major phases of work have been carried out on
the main house. |
 |
The first was the restoration of the external
envelope.This included complete re-roofing, the
refurbishment and replacement of windows, repairs
to decayed stone work and, at the same time, the damp proofing of the basement. All the
original detailing was carefully maintained
during the repair works. |
 |
The second phase of work included the
replacement of services within the house,
great care being taken to conceal these
within the structure. 1,000 square metres of
oak flooring was replaced. Internal joinery,
fixtures and fittings were restored and
reinstated, while carefully adapting the house
for both private use and as a conference
facility.

 |
The ornate plaster ceiling above the main
staircase is heavily decorated with a wreath of
fruit and flowers and was in a very weak
condition. This had to be carefully pinned and
supported from above in order to regain its
stability. At the same time, some of the
missing decoration was replaced.
